With the rise of the Magadha kingdom around 600 BC, the great warrior king Ravana (Mukesh Rishi), turns his attention towards Ayodhya. In Ayodhya, a great rivalry begins between Ravana's son, Rama (Ashutosh Rana), and his stepbrother Lakshmana (Manoj Bajpayee), and their stepmother, Kaikeyi (Juhi Chawla). Rama, with the help of his brother, Hanuman (Aman Shah), battles Ravana and his army of Demons to bring peace and prosperity to Ayodhya.
Ramayana is the only Indian animated movie that has been released in 3D and 3D Plus with 3D glasses.
The songs have music by Vishal Bhardwaj and the lyrics are penned by Gulzar.

Synopsis
Kaikeyi is the daughter of a rich merchant, Bharata and his wife, Chandramati. She comes to know of the prediction that she would have a son if she puts the carcass of a white monkey in a pot of water.Kaikeyi gets enraged by this and orders her two young sons, Rama and Lakshmana to be killed. Rama is murdered by Kaikeyi's brother, Kaushalya but Lakshmana is saved by the God Hanuman. Hanuman, in return for being saved, promises to get Rama back.Rama and Lakshmana are then raised by their maternal uncle, Shatrughna. Many years later, after having done numerous acts of service to the lord, Rama and Lakshmana were about to be crowned the rightful king and queen of Ayodhya, when the demon Ravana, king of the demons, came to kill them. Rama is saved by his brother Hanuman and the two brothers and the princess are crowned the rightful king and queen of Ayodhya. Rama then receives a prophecy from Sage Vishvamitra that once he crosses the sea with his brother to get a bow from the hermitage of sage Vishwamitra that would be beneficial to the kingdom, he would be victorious in his battle with Ravana.
